"SEMANGAT GURU YANG TAK PERNAH PADAM"

Baru seketika tadi aku selesai membaca nota ringkas dari Mr Lan, guru cemerlang Matematik di SMKAA mengenai "Top Ten Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started Teaching" karya Cynthia Thomas melalui bukunya Empowering The Beginning Teacher In Mathematics.. notanya hadir setelah hati ini berbelah bahagi samada diriku benar2 ikhlas untuk menjadi guru ataupun tidak...berderai airmata kerana takdirku sudah ditentukan disini...pertolongan dariNya hadir tatkala aku hampir lemas dibuai keresahan..malu dengan pelajar yang aku kira mungkin saja tersedar aku sedang menahan takungan airmata di depan kelas semasa relief..malu dengan diri sendiri kerana sering saja merungut dengan masalah yang menimpa diri..padahal, setiap yang terjadi pada diri sendiri adalah dengan izin Allah yang Maha Esa...

ingin saja aku kongsikan disini, tapi mungkin nanti, setelah aku scan nota yang kuterima tadi...terima kasih Mr.LAn kerana walaupun kita berbeza bangsa, dapatku lihat keikhlasan seorang guru dalam jiwa cikgu...akan kekal terpahat panggilan itu ke atas mana2 guru sekalipun kerana ia panggilan keramat...nota itu tadi membuat diriku sedar, bukan aku seorang sahaja mempunyai masalah yang sama.

Berikut merupakan tips-tips yang ingin aku kongsi:

1..Not every Student will be interested every minute
 ** the solution is to change your tone of voice, move around the room, or switch from lecturing to some other activity

2..If a lesson is going badly,stop
 **regroup and start over with a different approach or abandon your planned lesson entirely and go on to somthing else

3..Teaching will get easier
**maybe not tomorrow or even a next week, but at some point in the year, your job will be easier!!

4..You do not have to volunteer for everything
**do not feel that you always have to say yes each time you are asked to participate
 
5..Not every student or parent will love you
** Students do not need a friend who is your age, they need a facilitator, a guide, a role model for learning
 
6..You cannot be creative in every lesson
*for those subjects that do not inspire you, you can turn to other resources to help
 
7.. No one can manage portfolios, projects, journals, creative writing and student self-assessment all at the same time and stay sane!
**pick one for this year and make it priority in your classroom

8..Some days you will cry, but the good news is, some days you will laugh!


9..You will make mistakes
**if the mistake requires an apology, make it and move on.
 

10.. This is the best job on earth!
